Hi, I'm Aleks, the creator and author of this blog. I'm a 41 year old Mom of three boys (Dmitri, 19, Andy, 17, and Gabriel, 14) and married to Charles (7 years so far) living in Vermont where I am an artist.
I've been blogging on a personal family blog since 2007 but stopped it indefinitely in July 2012 due to the boys wanting their privacy. Since 80% of the blog involved them, the blog had to go. The other part of the personal blog was my struggle with my weight loss and exercise and so I decided to turn that into a blog of its own which I kept from 2013 until early March of 2015. I decided I wanted a brand new start with a new blog name and, basically, new everything (except the layout lol) so here we go with the new blog!
And, of course there will be personal things (like living with fibromyalgia, migraines, chronic pain and bipolar), things about family, husband and kids and art stuff thrown in (since I'm an artist) because that's just how life works!
My goal (was and still is) to lose 100 pounds but I may never actually reach that number due to the many psychiatric meds I'm on for my bipolar disorder (which will also come up now and again).
My biggest goal, one beyond the number on the scale, is to be healthy and fit. I like to workout but have dealt with some back injuries in the last few years which have prevented me from exercising for months at a time. At this time the back seems to have settled down so I'm hoping to start some basic exercise and modify it to protect my back.
My plan is to use My Fitness Pal to count calories and track nutrients. I really like MFP and find it very easy and useful as long as I stick to actually using it!
I plan to review workout DVDs that I do and since I read a lot of weight loss memoirs and "diet" books I think I'll be reviewing those as well. I'm planning on one review a week and I'll be posting ones I have previously written until I run out of them, then I'll start with new ones.
Also, keep an eye out for healthy recipes and many, many blogs that I enjoy reading and that have helped me along with weekly motivational memes!
I really think that writing this blog will help keep me accountable and help me stay with the program since people will be reading and watching how I do!
